The Plainfield Rotary, WCTY 97.7 and the Savings Institute Bank and Trust are proudly producing the 5th annual country music talent competition.  This American Idol style competition has become a large part of the eastern Connecticut area and this year is sure to be the best yet. Proceeds from the event help sponsor a number of charitable programs run by the Plainfield Rotary club such as much needed scholarships and the high school Interact group.

This year’s contestants represent all of eastern Connecticut from areas such as Woodstock, Plainfield, Groton and Scotland. With just as diverse backgrounds in singing, some classically trained and others born with a banjo in their hands this show will sure to be a competition like no other.

The twelve contestants were chosen from submissions presented back in February of this year and the talent and competition are unyielding. Each singer will compete for Cash prizes and they are determined by the votes of the judges in four categories, stage presentation, vocal ability, song selection and overall entertainment value. 

This year to add to the anticipation there will be a new audience vote were every audience member will be able to vote for their choice and the singer with the most votes will also be awarded a cash prize.

This performance is an extraordinary family entertainment event to see and participate in as you cheer and vote on your favorite talent. As always there will be raffle from WCTY 97.7, Mohegan Sun and the music center of Norwich so there is a chance for everyone to be a winner at this home grown event. You never know, you may be this year’s shining star!
